Yesterday we were able to get the ground and voltage rails soldered onto the protoboard. We then hooked the barometer and the accelerometer to a common ground and 3.3V source from these rails. We are now able to test and read values from the protoboard. However the signal wires from the middle of the voltage dividers are still floating. The next thing we need to requires us to have the connectors we ordered from sparkfun. We will be soldering the ground, 3.3v rails and all of the sensor outputs to a ribbon connector. This will be what connects the beagle to the protoboard. Today Eric brought in a GPS module from home for us to attempt to read data from it, we ordered one of this model (GP-635T) from sparkfun yesterday.

Objective: To test which GoPro field of view if most optimal for the side camera to record the tray opening and closing. Gaining footage of the horizon is also a secondary goal. Method: GoPro Hero 3+ Silver, the camera that will be used for the sides, was mounted in its casing and payload box to simulate recording on the day of the flight. A previous model of the petri dish assembly will be positioned at various distances on the side. Camera Test in the Sun

Last week we were able to test the GoPro cameras outside to see at what temperature the GoPro cameras fail, especially the top camera that would be directly facing the sun. The high was 83F in the afternoon, with several clouds in the sky. The thermometer cord was attached to the back of the top camera to record its changes in temperature. Attaching a thermometer to back of GoPro Inside Payload (Top camera connected to one power bank, side cameras connected to another) Setting up pole and payload so that the camera can record changes in thermometer. End of Week II of Summer 2 - 7/12/2018 Our beloved mentor Professor Griffo will be leaving us for the next two week to take a well-deserved vacation. When professor Griffo returns we will only have about two weeks before we need to be ready to launch. This means that we, as a team, need to come together and work hard to complete as much as possible. Alejandro and Ian sat together with the professor to come up with a to-do list for the following weeks; this includes printing at least one completed petri assembly that has been tested, printing all casings, and generally getting ready for a launch in August. Progress Today, Thursday the 12th, we had to present our progress to the rest of the groups working here during the summer. The presentation went well, but we clocked in 7 minutes and 7 seconds from an allowed 3 - 5 minutes.
